About
Hi! I am available for reading (SIPPS) and writing tutoring. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing in 2015 and recently moved to California from Florida where I was an English professor. I specifically taught written communication and literature classes. I always made class exciting with music, physical movement, group and individual work, debates, being outside and technology! I studied abroad during my graduate program and I was a substitute teacher for k-12 districts in Virginia, a job coach for adult students with disabilities in Pennsylvania and a supervisor for an after-school program as well. I earned my certification as an athletic coach before coaching a coed college and high school team which I loved! I was also a graduate assistant for the Student Engagement department. As you see, I have ample experience in different school environments working with students from kindergarten to college age. I love the outdoors, my family, traveling, animals and am quite crafty. I had a math tutor when I was in college so I know what it feels like to be the student receiving specific tutoring. Now, as the tutor, I try to make the students feel comfortable and provide the best guidance I can with patience! I believe everyone is capable of learning with the right resources, time and effort. I have been tutoring one-on-one and with an academy now for several years. I try to offer a flexible schedule to meet your needs. I look foward to meeting you.
I enjoy helping students grow and making them feel more comfortable with subjects they find difficulty succeeding in - I enjoy helping them understand that they can enjoy that subject if they’re provided a different approach to learn the material.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my MFA in Creative Writing and have worked in numerous school districts and a college. In addition to writing, I instruct SIPPS, too.
How did you get started teaching?
