Went I first stood up on a surfboard and road a wave all the way to beach it was the most exciting thing in my life at that time. I was so exhiharated, and happy that words could not explain it at 10 years of age in Venice beach. I get to revisit that bliss with every lesson when a student stands up for the first time. Teaching surfing is my passion, and The Hermosa Surfers Walk of Fame awarded my long detication to surfing in 2018.

They were very Knowledgeable and understanding and made our time at the beach wonderful
I think the best thing was how fun he made the lessons. I was a little nerves at the being but we started slow and I got up right away! Besides making it easier to learn we were all have a great time.
My grandchildren learned so much about surfing from Kip, being in the ocean & learning to recognize the wave sets for safety, the currents and rip tides. Kip taught them respect for ocean sea life while teaching them how to surf and have fun. Each day, the children developed more knowledge & confidence about being in the ocean waves and using a surf board. They couldn't wait to get to each surf lesson with Kip at Freespiritsurfla.
Kip is a hall of fame surfer and decorated life guard who is an amazing surf teacher. He has a great approach to surf instruction and is a super nice guy.
We meet in the parking at the Beach, i pick out the best wetsuit and right size surfboard to learn on. Once the wetsuit is on we go practice on the sand paddling, balancing, and falling safely, ussing protection protocals. Then once you have the technique down on the sand we go out in the water and practice what what you just learned. Im there the whole time and help you in small surf to go over the waves, spin the surfboard around and take off for the first time. Coaching, and Lifeguarding you as you progress.
