I teach Acrylic and oil painting in Adobe gallery in Castro Valley. I used to teach Art Appreciation courses in University of Bahcheshehir in Istanbul for several years before moving to the US.
I have PhD in Ottoman (Turkish) textile design and BFA in painting. I have more than 30 years experience teaching to children and adults.
I really enjoy seeing students improve and discover their talents and creativity. Studying art inhances the appreciation of life and the world around us.
Painting in Oils or acrylics with Azar is really a great learning experience. The class is very fluid in being able to choose your own subjects to paint. There is instruction at the beginning of the class and throughout the classes for continual learning.
Acrylic is a new medium for me. I started with watercolor painting. I especially like taking classes with Azar, who is a former university instructor in art. I have taken many workshops from artists who are not good teachers. As a former professor at CSU,EB in teacher education, I appreciate learning from someone who not only is an excellent artist, but an excellent teacher of art.
I enjoy working with Azar to gain knowledge; her hands-on approach and her sincerity.
Our teacher is the best! She has taught me how to determine subject placement, shadowing, blending, etc., in my paintings. I especially learn alot from her demonstrations on mixing colors, brush use, and originality. She walks the room and provides great advice and assistance on our paintings. For someone who can't draw a straight line, even I'm impressed with my paintings. Everyone in the class is so creative and friendly. Great class.
I start explaining some basic design concepts and description of painting materials, I give them the freedom to explore and experience art and guide them to discover their own talent.
I have a PhD and Masters degree in Traditional Ottoman Era textile design, Bachelor degree on painting. More than 30 years experience in teaching.
