About this pro

I cater to providing art in the Inner City for students k-12 to students and families that may not have the opportunity to experience art lessons in a group setting or privately. I also encourage parents to sign up there special needs children.... as I have experience and master's classes in special education.

I enjoy creating new and interesting art as well as teaching and encouraging students to be creative beyond their imagination through connected lesson plans at their grade level....looking at things in a different perspective... Encouraging them to think outside the box!!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I asked about their likes and dislikes ....their favorite activities... I introduced them to artists that I think may catch their eye... And I first introduced the basics the elements of art the color palettes and color mixing.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been teaching K through 12 academics for 17 years....I've been a traveling art teacher... I have also taught art for teachers at USC Rossier School of Education and I went to Art School briefly at calarts in Valencia California.

How did you get started teaching?

I developed my passion for teaching from my mother who has been an educator and principal for 40 years... 90% of the jobs I've had since 16 have been working with children either in camp counselor capacity or as a teacher's aide and teacher.

What types of students have you worked with?

I am work with students from preschool to college level and including special needs moderate-to-severe.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would tell them to make sure that the teacher has a passion for students and the patience to handle different levels... academically and behaviorally.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What type of art they would like doing.... if they would like to concentrate on a specific artist and if they have a preferred medium whether it be sculpture, oils, watercolor, acrylics, pastels or colored pencils... And even jewelry making, mosaic and tie dye.
