About

What I will offer, if you want to learn to draw or paint a hand, a face, a figure , I can teach you how. If you want to learn how to draw or paint a picture digitally, I can teach you that also. What I hope to do is help people to find their unique voice, so they may then communicate it to others, and in many different ways. Every student I meet will have a syllabus (of sorts) that they receive after their intial session. The syllabus will t reflect their skill level and goals.

I am a great believer that everyone is an Artist, because at it's core Art is a form of communication. When learning a new language, you start with alphabets, sentence structucture, context, which allows you to master and then manipulate the language. I started my first life drawing class with a summer scholarship at Otis Parsons, and since that point, and up until my late 20' received scholarships, from Art Center, New York Visual Art School, and Otis School of Art of Design(where I later taught for a short amount of time). I mention my classical training because it is truly what allowed me to then create art unconventionally and with new approaches. My artwork now is mostly mixed Media digital, meaning my sketchbook, is now not limited to paper or a canvas. In combination with my tablet, I use masking tape, charcoal, acrylic, and graphite, and maybe more in creating one piece. With incorporating digital art I'm not limited to using one medium on one media, but I can use multiple mediums on multiple media. I have printed many pieces to canvas, or silk, and even wood. In a context outside of a particular regions social and economic dynamic, Art at it's essence has no definition. There are no rules in art that can't be broken.

Throughout my career, I have found out that there is nothing quite like showing someone that they can accomplish something they never dreamed of. Teaching someone is definitely a calling, you give your students all of you, hoping that they will take what you have given them and make it their own and something completely new.

    Frequently asked questions

Initially with a new student, I try to find out what they're trying to accomplish, and why. In our first session I will give each student a couple of basic excersises, that will test their particular skill level. The art excersises I give each student, will also give me an idea of their creative process and how they artistically problem solve. By the end of our first session, we will discuss a course action of how we should go forward and we will discuss some specifics of their particular development so I can develop a syllabus for them.

I have received scholarships to various Art programs since the age of thirteen. I graduated from LA County High School of the Arts, and received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design( where I later taught for a short time). I have worked as an Editorial Illustrator, Story Board Artist, and Character Designer. I've had pieces in shows in California , and on the East Coast& spent a few years doing Art Shows with an Art collective I created called Impurity.

I will provide a contract for each student, that outlines my services, and the price that we agree on after our intial session. Standard pricing is a minimum of $100 an hour and might change depending on the needs of the student. Once a an hourly price is agreed on, then it is set and won't change unless there are demands outside the guidelines of or  intial agreed upon contract.
