Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet with each student and parent to discuss the student's experience, and set the proper expectations for the lesson. At the end of each lesson we brief the parent and strengths and areas of improvement to obtain the best driving experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each instructor has been verified as a police/law enforcement officer. All of our instructors have thousands of experienced hours in driving and the laws pertaining to driving. We combined our real life experiences with the state mandated training to make a safe driver.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our pricing is easily available via our website.
How did you get started teaching?
I Drive Smart was founded in 2004 when the overwhelming stats pertaining to teens and collisions were on the rise. The founder of I Drive Smart saw that breakdown in the parent/teen relationship to driving and the risks associated with driving. As police officers we knew something needed to be done to reduce the risks all drivers face.
What types of students have you worked with?
Teens, Senior drivers, Corporate training, students with special needs or learning challenges.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety reviewed our program and found that drivers who train with other companies are cited 54% more than our students!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions! What type of qualification process does the driving program use to hire instructors? How many students will be in the vehicle when my teen is driving? How many years of experience do you have? Are you registered with the BBB?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There aren't any questions that aren't valuable. Students are encouraged to ask any question they need a answer on.
