About
I have been teaching at Moze Guitars for 15 years. Each lesson is crafted for the individual student. I don't work out of a "guitar lesson book". I create each lesson based on the students interest and skill level. Enjoyment of the instrument first and formost. I want my students to enjoy playing guitar as much as I do.
I play in a number of local Bands and perform regularly. If students are interested in playing with other musicians I regularly pair them up and have students performing. Playing infront of an audience can really take your playing to the next level.
Teaching guitar is incredibly rewarding. Watching someone make progress and have fun learning their favorite songs is what makes it worth it to me. I enjoy teaching all aspects of the instrument from begenning level students to advanced. I love guitar and I want my students to love it as well!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get students reading tabliture and playing songs as soon as possible. I usually walk them through a really easy first song both reading and playing along with the track. Usually starting with something easy like "Knockin' On Heavens Door" . Once we get a song or two under our belt I let the students start picking the songs so long as they are reasonable choices.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started taking lessons from a very young age and have toured and played in live bands for the past 15 years. I went to school for both classical and jazz guitar and studied music theory as well. For the past Two years i have been working for a small San Diego based record label called The Redwoods playing for their artists live and on recordings. Artists include: Birdy Bardot, The Midnight Pine, Dani Bell and the Tarantist, Rebecca Jade and the Cold Fact, Cardinal Moon, The Heavy Guilt, and Louise Walker.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $30 for the half-hour. Usually lessons are booked in blocks of four so you have one half-hour lesson a week each month. Payment is made at the begining of every month.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching by volunteering at middle school guitar clubs while I was in high school and it progressed from there. I taught out of my house for the first couple of years until i found my home at Moze Guitars teaching and working alongside some of the best musicians and techs in San Diego.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with every type of student, from beginers to advanced and people looking to learn a wide range of styles.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing when choosing an instructor is that you connect with them and understand their teaching style. Playing guitar should be fun and something you look forward to practicng, lessons should be the same way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask the teacher to talk about their teaching style and what types of music they teach. Try to have an idea of what type of music you like and would like to learn to play. Set goals for yourself.
