Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My approach to helping a client depends on the client's specific needs. No two clients are alike. A client may need to learn how to manage and cope with a life-threatening illness; learn how to reduce chronic, inespcapable stress; talk about personal relationship problems; or be taught how to regain somatic, visceral, or kinesthetic sensations numbed by traumatic event.
I specialize in managing clients suffering from PTSD, Complex-PTSP (such as child sexual abuse and abandonment), and addictive behavior.
I use modalities developed at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine and Society at the School of Medicine, University of Massachusetts, and by Bessel van der Kolk, MD at the Trauma Center at JRI.
For addiction relapse prevention I use the modalities developed by Alan Marlatt, Ph.D. "Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention."
