Master in his craft and a phenomenal teacher, is the phrase that comes to mind when I think about Patrick. Our family had the pleasure of knowing Patrick for five years. I found him on this website when looking for someone who could bring my daughters skills to the next level, because at that time, she was accepted into the Orange County School of Arts - Visual Art conservatory. She was never exposed to oils and we needed someone to help her in that field. We found Patrick, and he introduced her to the technique and the best practices. Thanks to the lessons with Patrick, she excelled in her class and became the go to person for her peers, based on what she learned and how to work with oils. Also her comfort and confident level was significantly higher
than she would have without the lessons.
Above all, I was impressed with Patrick’s ability to relate at that time to my 12 years old daughter as an artist at her skill level and his diligent and patience to throughly explain the process and the technique. Patrick is one of the best artists out there, and let me put it this way, anyone who will be lucky enough to have a lesson with Patrick, will benefit from it. He is one of the best artists in his field and we feel so honored that he was able to give art lessons to my daughter. I have always admired Patrick Whelans astounding artistic ability. Im so glad I didnt let my own insecurities keep me from taking these lessons. His patient, methodical approach was just what I needed to bring out my hidden talent. Im absolutely thrilled with the results! I went away from the experience with amazing art and a new sense of talent. I highly recommend Whelans lessons to anyone looking to broaden their artistic horizons. Dont let inexperience stop you! I begin with a review of the students work to ascertain their experience, skill level, and interests. I then let them choose an idea or subject that is of interest to them, and I show them how to being it to life using my techniques. I paint the same thing they are painting so they can follow along.

I have a BFA from the Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD). I graduated with honors class of 91.
