About
Mrs. Eiki Paik Worcester studied under internationally acclaimed pianist Daniel Pollack at the University of Southern California (USC Thornton School of Music) where she received her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. Mrs. Worcester has also served as adjunct faculty at both UC Irvine and Vanguard University but now limits her teaching to her private studio where she has developed many fine young pianists and musicians, sharing the joy of music for a lifetime from the earliest ages to and including adults.
Eiki Worcester's musical roots reach back to Japan where she studied as a child. Her father, the Rev. Namchul Paik (1912-2012) was a Korean Presbyterian minister who started her on the piano at an early age. Her study of pedagogy includes the Suzuki Method and the Dorothy Taubman Technique. Mrs. Paik Worcester is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC), has served in various officer capacities and as chairperson for competitions in her branch and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. In addition to her studio teaching, Mrs. Paik Worcester serves as an adjudicator of both piano performance and music theory, and she tutors students studying AP Music Theory.
One of her daughters, Dr. Lynn Worcester, teaches Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Lynn Worcester has a DMA degree from University of Oklahoma, an MM degree from Baylor University, and both MM and BM degrees from the California State University (Fullerton). Prior to joining the faculty at UNI, she served as Assistant Professor of Music in Piano and Director of Piano Pedagogy at Shorter University in Georgia where she taught applied piano, piano pedagogy, accompanying and more. When Dr. Worcester is in California she often participates in Studio events and adds her expertise to the Studio.
Her private students participate in piano competitions where appropriate and in the MTAC CERTIFICATE OF MERIT program where students are tested annually in music theory as well as sight-reading and performance. Mrs. Paik-Worcester also serves regularly as an adjudicator at piano competitions and as a Certificate of Merit performance adjudicator outside of her MTAC Branch area. She also hosts regular recitals for her students and their families.
During her music studies Mrs. Paik Worcester received numerous scholarships and awards, including the coveted Daniel Aldrich Chancellor’s Scholarship for Music at UCI. She was also a winner at numerous piano competitions including the Joanna Hodges Piano Concerto Competition and the Ventura College Piano Competition and later concertized, performing solo concerti with symphony orchestras in Southern California. In addition to distinguishing herself as a soloist, she went on to perform extensively in chamber ensembles and in performance recitals for flute and piano for Doctoral candidates at USC.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
"Everyone deserves to feel the joy of playing the piano. I have taught every age and every type of student... autistic, blind, young, old; everyone can enjoy music."
I will meet the student and at least one parent for a short audition and I will provide suggestions and an evaluation at that time.
