Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach a step-by-step of sculpture. We begin day one creating the bone structure, add symmetrical lines, add facial features (eyes, nose, mouth, add neck) and shoulders for gesture. Day two we add ears, hair, clothing and details. Three weeks later, we hollow out the sculpture and finishing details.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self taught sculptor. I have studied under renowned sculptors Philippe Faraut and Andrew Cawrse.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My workshops are $320 (including $20 firing fee) for 20-hours/3 sessions on instruction held only at my Auburn studio.
How did you get started teaching?
My friend, Philippe Faraut told me to should teach and I did.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners to professional artists.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of all of my students and their work.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Show up with comfortable shoes and an open-mind. I supply everything else.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
After we create the bone structure, you need to decide what gender, ethnicity, facial expression (emotion) you will like to portray and clothing or not. There are seven basic emotions; anger, disgust, fear, joy, rage, sadness and surprise.
