Ive been taking lessons with Aaron for over 2 years and I feel my playing and technique has greatly improved. I started out with a rudimentary understanding of music and music theory but now have a much better grasp of it. While I still have plenty of miles left to go on my musical journey, Aaron has set me up with good fundamentals and techniques. Hes also a great jazz guitarist if youre looking for that too.

I contacted Aaron because of the description of topics of instruction he listed in his ad for lessons. They were exactly what Ive been looking for. The main item Ive been looking for is music theory. I dont want to just learn how to play a piece of music. I want to know how the song was created and why the chords progress the way they do. And Aaron is guiding me on my path step by step. So far he as the patience of a saint dealing with this late to the party student. And I plan to test his patience by continuing to ask my main questions for everything.......Who, What, When, Where & Why?

Aaron is a fantastic and knowledgeable guitar teacher across many genres of music. I have been taking lessons with him for the past few years and have seen tremendous improvement in my playing from his lessons. He is able to tailor practice material specifically for my skill level and musical interests so that I can reach all of my goals as a musician. I would highly recommend Aaron as a guitar teacher for musicians of all age ranges as well as skill levels!

Aaron is a pleasure to work with. He knows his stuff, and conducts a teaching program that is highly individualized to meet the needs of every student. The phenomenal progress many of his students have made in a short time will attest to that!

    Frequently asked questions

On the first lesson, I like to have a conversation with the student to get to know them as person rather than just a student. After our introductions, I like to ask the students about their musical experiences to assess their skill level and determine where a good starting point might be.

I like to use a teaching program called Guitar Pro to help the student by providing them material that they can view and listen to while they practice during the week.

This program is available on both Windows and Mac.

I received my B.A. in Jazz Guitar at California State University  East Bay and have been mentored by the great Nick Tocco and world famous jazz guitarist Jocelyn Gould!

Through both of their help I have learned so much! From scales, arpeggios, function of harmony, music theory, and most importantly how to use these tools in a practical sense.

I got my start teaching at Las Positas College in Livermore, CA through a tutoring program that the university set up for students to learn how to tutor other students within their field of study.

After teaching at Las Positas College, I became a full time guitar instructor at the local music store in Livermore called Mozart, Einstein, and Me (formally ABC Music).

Currently I am offering lessons online lessons, and in-person (only students that are vaccinated)

I have worked with children as young as 7 years old to adults. Each student has their own unique set of goals that we focus on and we work together to design the steps needed to achieve their goals.

As an instructor, I highly suggest that people find a teacher that is truly passionate about the craft of pedagogy and will go the extra mile to make sure that every student enjoys what they are learning.
