Watercolor Painting Lessons
About
I have been painting watercolor for 20+ years and it has grown from a hobby to a passion. My style is loose and colorful. I do not limit my subject matter: I love painting flowers, landscapes, architechture, pets, and portraits. All subjects can be broken down in shape, color and value. I enjoy teaching and bringing out the artist in my students by building confidence with practical exercises and step by step demonstrations, tailoring these to meet my students needs and aspirations.
I love getting to know people. I'm sure I learn as much from them as they do from me! I also enjoy those "aha!" moments when the students pick up a new technique or master one they have been experimenting with, and I see growth in their work.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I go over various types of supplies, let them try mine, and help them decide what supplies to purchase to best meet their needs for what they would like to accomplish. I will tailor lessons to my students needs and interests, including some practice exercises and leading them through some paintings of subject matter they like, step by step. I also require they have a drawing notebook and practice their drawing regularly because good drawing skills are needed for painting. I like to use still life arrangements or take students painting outdoors "en plein air".
