About

Ruwach En Jasmine Dance Studio is a small, boutique studio located in Long Beach, CA. Yes, we teach classical ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap and tumbling for ages 3-Adult; but we specialize in training students to worship God through dance. We also provide private personal training in dance fitness. For those with targeted goals in mind, we offer private dance/choreography lessons for solos, duos and trios. For larger groups, we will create a dance program at your site. Performance opportunities available throughout the year as well as recitals. Special daytime hours are available for homeschoolers.

I love to see the growth from the first day to the last day. Clients may come in scared but leave with such a profound sense of confidence.; their bodies are stronger, they love performing and showing their parents what they have learned. I feel so proud of them as they overcome their inner struggles to become what they dreamed of in their heart. There is no prouder moment for a teacher/trainer than to see their clients soar.

Frequently asked questions

I like to make class fun, challenging yet inspirational. I like to spend time prior to class prepping for each level; planning what techniques, dynamics and rhythms I want them to focus on. I like to be their greatest encourager by pointing out those skills that they have accomplished & mastered whether big or small. Our private lessons are where our process really shines; it is here that we are able to deliver on goals set by the client. By the end of set time, we are able to really achieve deliverable goals whether learning a new dance, losing weight, gaining strength or gaining confidence in performing.

I moved away from home at the age of thirteen to study dance and theater in another state at the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts. I received numerous awards (including a National ARTS Finalist) and was given a scholarship to study dance performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. As a first-generation college student, I competed in pageants to offset college costs and won Miss Fort Worth/Miss America, was Third-Runner Up to Miss Texas and won "Best Dancer" every I competed. After graduating,

I was invited to teach a workshop in Texas and the kids really loved it. My first major company that I danced for was the Bruce Wood Dance Company. There was an elementary school located right across the street and the kids would come into our studio after school and watch us rehearse our ballets. They were super excited when we finally told them that we would start offering classes for them. It was such an amazing experience watching their eyes light up!

I have worked with all types of dancers; beginners, intermediate, advanced and professional. Not only do I dance professionally with other dance companies, but I also have my own performing company as well. My favorite lessons are the private lessons; a group of kids will come to me and say they want me to choreograph a dance to their favorite song. Those are my favorite because they value the experience. I try to choreograph with their personalities in mind and pray that my choreography complements who they are; not overshadows them. It warms my heart to see when their vision coupled with my choreography skills manifests the dream in their heart.

Last week, I was a part of a two-day dance event in which all of my students who had taken private lessons or group classes performed all together on the same stage. It was surreal and completely rewarding to watch them completely own their performance with confidence and personality. Dreams made manifest.

Call them first to get a feel for the studio. If you are new to dance training, ask yourself did they make you feel comfortable on the phone? Did they make you feel dumb by not knowing what to ask or how to proceed? Or did they make you feel extremely comfortable? Do they ask for your dreams and vision for your child's/your dance/fitness education? Are you a homeschooler or does your child attend regular school? Are you a traveling missionary or military family; meaning do you have flexibility/scheduling issues? Are you interested in recreational dance or more of a professonal track? We ask a lot of questions of potential clients and we want them to inquire of us. We want to ensure that our services are a perfect fit for you. And if we discover during our call that The Ford Academy is not the perfect place, we normally have a list of reputable studios for you to connect with. The point is to get you dancing or on the journey to fitness--whether you do it with us or not, we want to push you in the right direction and see you succeed.

If it's a studio policy issue, we encourage students to read/review their Dance Studio Handbook prior to speaking with a teacher.

If it's an in-class issue, we suggest speaking with the teacher directly and immediately. What if the child was uncomfortable during the class or someone made a disparaging remark? We like to create an welcoming atmosphere for everyone to succeed in our studio. Such issues are dealt with swiftly, firmly and lovingly.

If a student needs more of something or wants to learn a step they saw in someone else's dance, we want to hear about it. Remember, we are here to help each client succeed.

If a client is having trouble losing weight or committing to a healthy diet, we want to hear about so we can come alongside them and help them succeed.
