Knox Farrand offers private art instruction for all ages and in most mediums. He is a traditionally taught figurative artist who is proficient in oil painting (alla prima, glazing, stumbling and other techniques), acrylics, ink, mixed-media, and drawing in most dry mediums. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It really depends upon the student and what his or her goals are, but in the end, drawing is always the beginning and then we go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been drawing and painting for most of my life. I've never stopped taking some kind of figurative workshop, which lead me to working for Disney in traditional animation but then moved on to painting cells. As for painting, I reproduced master works and do my best to paint everyday.

One of my best friends daughter actually was my first and I haven't stopped since.
