LA United Academy
About
Our Club is located in the Heart of Los Angeles, CA. LA United Volleyball Club is dedicated to the instruction and development of volleyball for student-athletes of all ages between 10-18 in the Boyle Heights & East L.A. area. At LA United, our volleyball club will strive to introduce this amazing sport and to produce technically sound volleyball players through skill-based instruction in a competitive, team-building environment. We are currently looking for players who want to not only excel as athletes but as students and members of our community.
I enjoy teaching our youth the fundamentals of a sport I have grown to love. You don't have to be the strongest or the fastest but just learn the proper techniques to do something and you will get it done. We are here to instruct and teach repetition as that is key in this beautiful sport.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We can schedule a free session to see if we are compatible within the group setting that I am teaching. Once you come and see what I have to offer I will then work on a price with you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing volleyball at the age of 16. Played throughout my high school ages and went to play in the City Championship game as a middle blocker. I have been coaching at the High school level and parks and recs division for over 20 years. I am a people person and can get the best out of every student. The end goal for me is to see improvement and not just wins and losses when we're on the court. We want the student-athlete to be comfortable making a mistake and then getting better from it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
When we meet in person we will talk over the money aspects of the sessions.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in the elementary division straight from high school while I was going to College. I was a teacher's aide for about 10 years and became an after-school coordinator after learning how to be an effective leader in the classroom. I had a staff of 16 with about 320 kids that stayed in the program. I can meet the kids at their level and try my best to connect in a way that they feel comfortable with me. The goal is to learn and making mistakes is a lesson in itself, as you get better from them.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children from 8 years old to 16 years of age in the volleyball spectrum. But I have coached competitive soccer to players between the ages of 16-40 years of age. Coaching is in my genes and it comes naturally. I should have been an educator as my profession but I chose a different path.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My most recent achievement is to take a group of girls(12 years old) that started learning volleyball in the months of July & August and get them to be able to come together as a team and grow their volleyball acumen to become a complete team and be able to complete for the city championships in the Parks & Recs division. While yes it's not a club team or a middle school team from the same school, it is a group of girls from different backgrounds and different schools that grew as a team with me and fought and battled together to make their dream a reality.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I am currently focusing on the true beginners of volleyball and teaching true mechanics and fundamentals to get my students ready for High school. The age ranges I am focusing on are between the age of 10-and 16, but will work with anyone that really wants to put in the work.
