Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When we first meet please tell me about yourself and show me your art work! We'll figure out the direction of lessons together! I have a basic drawing lesson framework that I use but it adjusts to each student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching art since 2006. I spent many years teaching at art centers for adult artists with developmental disabiliites. Currently I work with college students at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles and teach online from home as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Online lessons are $150 for a package of four
In-person lessons are $220 for a package of four
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching while still in college. My painting professor hired me as an assistant before I graduated.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all types young, old, and also neuro-diverse.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently submitted several of my students to a California Art Teacher Association awards show and all of my students were finalists in the competition.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The relationship is the most important thing. It's all about finding someone you can feel comfortable with and trust.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It's not necessary to have a specific goal in mind, but if you do.. let the teacher know! That way we can structure the lesson plan towards your interests. You'll be more motivated that way.
