About

Music has always been my passion. I've been studying the art for over 15 years. My goal is to pass on any and all knowledge to a new generation of students so that the rich musical tradition stays alive for years to come. I help students not only improve their playing abilities, but find the fun and joy that comes from making music. I've performed with the Disneyland All American College Band, at the Hollywood Bowl, and countless concert halls across the world. I use a style of teaching that is bendable and adaptable to every student, as no two people learn the same way, so my methodology is perfect for those who want to find success in the realm of playing a musical instrument. I have many years of experience playing, and offer lessons on: Flute/Piccolo, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Piano, and Voice. I'm currently finishing a Bachelors degree in Music Performance at the University of Southern California, and would love to help you grow and learn all about the exciting world of music!

Frequently asked questions

My typical process for working with a new student is first evaluating skill level and knowledge of the instrument(s). I then evaluate their knowledge of the type of music they wish to play. Musical comprehension is an important part of my curriculum, and goes hand in hand with technical skill. We would then begin a training regiment that I have deemed challenging enough for the student so that we can begin to improve their skills and expand their repertoire.

I am currently completing a Bachelors of Music at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. I have been a freelance music teacher for over 8 years now, and have worked with every type of student from elementary school to college level. My playing experience ranges from working in the Disneyland All American College Band to giving Workd Premieres in the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra.

My standard rate for lessons is $50 an hour.

Ever since I started learning, I've been teaching. Whether that was telling my middle school friends all about a new musical topic I found interesting or working with kids during summer programs to bring music into my community and start a new generation of passionate musicians. I started giving private lessons 6 years ago and have worked with many students 1 on 1 or in a group or ensemble setting.

I've worked with all types of students throughout all age ranges. I've worked with beginner students who didn't even know how to make a sound yet, to more intermediate and advanced students at the college level.

I was in a lesson with a voice student and she was not quite understanding the concepts I was teaching her. So instead of drilling the same excercise over and over again we switched it up and just had some fun until I heard her sing exactly the way I was describing before. That's when it clicked for her and we were able to make tremendous progress after that. I thinks this encapsulates my approach to teaching, and my ability to change and adapt to the student and situation so that they can break past whatever barrier they have up and start improving and most importantly have fun.

I think the most important thing is making sure your teacher is the right fit for your needs. Everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds and how you're learning and who you're learning from is an important part of your musical education. You should be going into lessons excited to learn, ready to play, and most importantly come out of them feeling like you not only improved, but had fun.
