Trevor Jarvis Cello Lessons

With extensive professional experience across a wide range of styes from classical to pop/rock, I'm proud to offer a unique perspective in my cello lessons. I strive to strike a balance with my approach, building on a foundation of traditional classical study while embracing the many wonderful roles the cello can play in the modern music world. As an active performing and recording cellist, I bring passion and real world experience, and I'm always looking for new and exciting repertoire to bring to my students.

I take pride in inspiring a true love of music in my students. As a result, I place great importance on understanding not just how to play the cello, but why we're playing it in the first place. I try to discuss the tools of playing (i.e. proper bowing and finger technique) in the broader context of things like phrasing, character, and storytelling. It's incredibly rewarding to see a student finally realize that music can be more than simply following instructions and playing the correct notes!
