About
I graduated from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1986. Soon after I started Anibus Studios. At the time we worked out of our 7,000 sq. ft. loft, specialized in painting murals and specialty decorative finishes in restaurants, hotels and night clubs all over Chicago, completeing over one hundred before I relocated to Southern California. I continued in Orange County doing murals, commisioned artwork and high end decorative finishes. I am now more focused on creating my own artwork and teaching, I also do many commisioned paintings for clients.
Both of my parents were professional artists. My mother continues to have a very sucessful career. I grew up painting, drawing and making art my whole life. It seemed like a natural choice to go off to art school and then to embark on a career of painting. When I was younger I loved the challenge of painting giant murals in interesting spaces that people would enjoy.
Now I love the challenge of putting to canvas and ever improving upon the endless stream of ideas and images that I have in my head. I also love being able to pass along the knowledge that thirty years of professional painting has taught me. I love seeing my students light up as some of the simplest tecniques I show them make vast differences in the results they are able to achieve.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student I like to talk first and find out their skill level and goals. From there we can work out a plan.
I usually teach out of my home studio in Camarillo. I personally like to work in acrylic on canvas, but have experience in most painting and drawing mediums. In the lessons I try to cover some color theory and mixing, drawing and perspective principles. I am open to working on whatever subject matter or specific ideas or challenges you're interested in working on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I originally graduated from The School of the Art Institute Of Chicago in 1986 and then started my mural painting company
Anibus Studios, there where we painted over 100 nightclubs, hotels bars and restaurants before I came to Southern California and continued to do Murals and Faux Finishing for another decade or so. I am now more focused on creating my own artwork and I do many commissioned paintings for clients. I am looking to take on a few students who would like to meet once or twice a week for lessons.
