Joels Basketball Clinics
About
After my college career was over I decided that I wanted to start teaching the next generation of young, excited basketball players. So I created Joel's Basketball Clinics. Countless numbers of young players today do not focus on the skill set that is necessary to take their overall game to the next level. My goal is to help each student individually become a better player and for them to be confident in themselves.
Proper shooting technique and the ability to learn how to shoot the ball with greater success is something I strive to teach each of my students during their sessions with me. Not only do I teach the proper way to shoot the ball but I work with the student in a one on one setting where I can implement proper shooting drills, ball handling drills, and proper footwork, all of which will help them become a better player overall.
Joel's Basketball Clinics company was created in 2007 in California. I lived in Las Vegas for 12 years and got my bachelors degree from UNLV, where I decided I would continue to teach and train players here in southern Nevada. I just moved back to the Bay Area and will continue to coach/train kids from the ages of 5 up to kids who are currently in high school and college. I have always been focused on passing my knowledge of the game onto the next generation and it gives me great satisfaction knowing I can help them become better and reach their goals.
Besides doing my 1 on 1 and small group sessions of training for the past 15+ years I have also coached at the high school level in California and in Las Vegas. It brings me great joy to help this next generation of basketball players develop their overall game, skill set and confidence in themselves. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and it gives me great satisfaction seeing you succeed and get better after each and every session with me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If you want to become a more effective offensive player then I'm the coach for you. I will help you in all aspects of your game. We will work on everything that involves shooting technique, footwork, dribbling and ball handling drills. All of which will help you with your ability to score and become a more well rounded and effective basketball player. My sessions are typically 1 hour in length but I do offer 1.5 and 2 hour sessions for those players who are looking for a more intense workout.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played high school and college basketball and began coaching/focusing on 1 on 1 skill develoipment as soon as my college career ended in 2007.
I have over 15 years of experience training all ages and skill levels of players from all over the united states and I've even trained European pros and NBA Summer League players.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have 1 hour, 1.5 hour and 2 hour sessions available for all of my clients. I charge $120 per hour and make sure each session is not only engaging to help them physically learn a new skill or improve it but I also want to make sure the player is understanding it from a mental aspect as well.
How did you get started teaching?

What types of students have you worked with?
My cleints range from 5 year olds with no basketball experience all the way up to professional basketball players with NBA Summer League experience.
I really pride myself in finding areas that players can improve their skillset regardless of the level of basketball they are currently playing.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I ran and operated my own basketball camp which included planning logistics, court rentals and meals for all of my players. I was also responsible for the well being of every single attendee at my camp for the entirety of the 3 day event.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'm USA Basketball certified and a former college player.
If you're looking to improve the form on your jump shot & your ability to handle the basketball then I'm the coach for you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
first you need to be brutally honest with yourself and make sure you are telling your coach/teacher what are your biggest weaknesses on the basketball court. Because if you can't be honest with yourself it will be that much harder for your coach to help you become the best player you can possibly be.
