Most schools don't teach fundamental observational drawing and painting techniques. When Abstract Expressionism took over in the 1950s, realistic drawing was shunned and the techniques lost. Why? It was associated with Communism. Ironically Abstraction with its extremely open ended interpretations was used in Fascist Spain to promote their propaganda as well. I teach realistic graphite drawing and oil painting that increases observational skill and visual intelligence. I taught long pose figure drawing at Neologian gallery. I worked at Bay Area Classical Art Atelier for 5 years assisting workshops with famous artists from the East Coast and Europe. I have studied directly under accomplished artists at several Atelier schools, in California and New York. I completed Advanced Artistic Anatomy with Michael Grimaldi, studying from the cadaver at various levels of dissection. I completed an ecorche sculpture with Andy Ameral, former head of Anatomy at the Florence Academy of Art. I won a full scholarship to attend an artist residency at the New York Academy of Art, completed summer 2017. I have shown in numerous galleries in New York and California including Counter Culture gallery and . I won honourable mention a juried show at Phillis Harriman gallery in Manhattan.

Learning to draw and paint accurately changes the way people see the world. They learn to observe. They see form, light, colour. They see beauty where they would not have noticed it. They can slow down, they can focus, they can find peace in bustling modern life.
