There is a universe of photography learning content available for free on the internet. These sites are great for obtaining information and learning techniques. Unfortunately very few offer individualized feedback or lessons tailored to your interests and abilities. In addition there are so many how do you know where to start?
College courses and private group instruction help by providing a more individualized experience but it is a program that has to cover a broad base of topics and meet the needs of a group of students.
One on one individualized instruction is the best way to learn based on your own ability, timing and interests. All my classes include personal guidance to help you develop your own style at your own pace. Each lesson is 90 minutes long; 60 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes to explore of your interests and abilities, provide guidance and critique/review.
The topics are flexible and we can tailor them to your interests.

I enjoy helping people explore and create. I also love technology. I find using tools and applications to enhance our creativity is exciting. I always want to try out the newest techinique.
Teaching helps me learn new and exciting concepts and techiniques because my students are creative and curious. It is amamzing what happens when two or more people work together each sharing their perspective and creativity.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Lessons.com usually provides some insight into where the student is in the learning process and what they want to accomplish. I have a typical learning plan but after interviewing the student I will tailor that plan to meet their goals based on where they are in the process.
Once we have achieved the basics then each lesson is designed to move the student further down the road.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken many classes in photography thouout my lifetime including film and darkroom techiniques and many aspects of lighting, portrait and outdoor photography. I am contimually learning by taking classes and attending photoshoots.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $30 per hour and the classes are usually 90 minutes long which is $45 per class. I will negotiate travel time but can conduct classes over the internet using Zoom for long distances.
