I am a full-time artist. I teach my students not only my skills but also my passion, my inspiration, my techniques. They always tell me how inspired they are to see a full-time artist and that they learn so much from me.
I love teaching and sharing. I love creating, I love teaching, I love exhibiting, I love painting murals or on canvases. I LOVE everything about it.
I've been working with Florence for 5 years now. She's a really good teacher who is very nice and gives out complements when she really means them. There's a lot of freedom in her class and I can see that we've all gotten a lot better quite rapidly.
My daughter has been attending Florence's camps for 6 years and taking weekly painting classes from her for 3 years. She loves the camps because she gets to create a work of art, learn to cook or bake something new and eat what she's made which is always special. She loves her weekly painting class on Friday afternoons with Florence. It's always the highlight of the week and something she never wants to miss. She says she loves that she gets to create art that has never been created before, and she gets peaceful time at the end of the week. This isn't your typical children's art class. The kids are learning real painting techniques and working on canvas. I feel like my daughter has learned so much from Florence and is constantly inspired. It's something she never wants to give up.
Flo creates a very welcoming and encouraging environment in which to appreciate, discuss and create art. She understands that the inspiration to create art comes from many places and can result in so much more than just a pretty painting. Flo has a true knack for bringing people together around art!
Florence is the most wonderful art teacher. I've had the privilege of being a student in her group painting class for over four years now. She provides the perfect amount of guidance when needed (her intuition regarding color, shape, and other elements is amazing), but she also encourages her students to explore art in ways that resonate the most with them. Not only is her professional success impressive; she shares her artistic talents with the world for the better, such as by painting murals at schools. I believe she cultivates the same spirit in her students and encourages us to express ourselves with art in the best ways.
We browse images that could be a good starting point for a painting. I help the student choose the best one. One that is inspiring to him/her and which I know, can become a nice painting. Then, I guide him/her, step by step into painting on a canvas. I show him/her how to paint with layers. I teach them how to be creative and use all the tools that we have: brushes, hands, papers, pencils, etc
