    Frequently asked questions

Start an evaluation of the student work done so far, and provide some basic exercises to proceed with classes and instruction in the area the student feels most comfortable in.

Evaluate the fundamentals of drawing, shades and shadows, perspective and colors and hand and eye coordination. Then improve upon these skills.

I have been interested in doing Artwork all of my life, and have taken specialized classes from talented Instructors throughout, including Jim Smyth, Brigette Curt, Jim Wall, Cjzaja, and Elmore Bischoff at UC Berkeley. And continue to practice at drawing, sketching, painting watercolors and oils, and pen and ink portraits of musicians at their talent.

I am also an accomplished professional Architect, practicing in the Bay Area in a modest firm.

I have to evaluate the student first to arrive at a standard pricing system.

Age, experience, and timing have an influence on the rate.

My Rates vary from $50-75 for one on one instructions.

I realize my own love of sketching, drawing, or painting, in public, when often I have curious people watching around me appreciating, asking me questions and wanting to be able to do the same. Since I am able to give advice and converse while working, I have recognized the need to help others in realizing their own talent in Art.

Curious and energetic, young and creative, organized and scattered, shy and hesitant, determined and diligent. But most with the inspiration and curiosity to try it further.

I was recently watching a piano performance at a Church fundraiser and felt the need to do some quick sketches of the pianist while she played. I managed to do a few of them while she played Classical music, and when I showed it to her, in the end, she was surprised and wanted to use it for her album cover. I obliged.

If the student is comfortable doing any form of scribbling and is able to converse about it with the teacher.

If the teacher can inspire, nurture, and communicate with the student easily?

If the teacher can relate to the student's curiosity in art and help release the adventurous spirit at heart.

If a student wants to learn the basic understandings of art, and specific skills of illustration, or improve their talent?

Is the student in need of affirmation or recognition of their potential talent, and learn how to advance it?

What motivates them into attempting to learn art, is it the same as another subject or curiosity?
