About
My passion is for teaching and playing my flute. I love to see the lightbulb go on for each student as they blossom into great musicians. I bring my experience from orchestra, band, chamber ensemble, new music, jazz, solo repertoire, and piccolo playing to my teaching.
I have the privilege of daily creating music and cultivating my craft. It is a great gift to share this honor with my students as I pass on what I have learned and discovered.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I sit down with each student during their first lesson and discuss their interests and goals as well as what they already know about music/pieces they have worked on. If the student is just beginning to learn the flute, we work through some fun exercises to learn the fundamentals of the flute. If the student has prior experience, I ask them to bring in a piece they have worked on previously. Through these methods I gague areas of strength and weakness in each student. It is important to me that I connect with each student I work with and as a result, teach them in the most effective way possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music Performance (Flute) degree from Biola University and am currently working on my Master of Music Performance (Flute) degree at California State University Long Beach. Please see my resume on my linkedin (link above) for more details about my education and training.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when I was in high school. Several beginning flute students needed extra help as they began their musical journeys. I fell in love with teaching as I helped each student navigate problems and achieve success.
