About

I have 20 years experience teaching art to teens and adults. I love to help my advanced students build a strong portfolio. With my beginning students, I help to teach skills and build confidence. We will start where you are and grow from there.

I am also a practicing artist and I exhibit my work nationally, have been in many prestigious shows, and my work is widely collected. I hold an MFA from Mills College and a BFA from Rutgers University. I also live on a farm and can host lessons outdoors in nature or in my studio. See my work at www.jeniferkent.com.

Jenifers a great teacher and wonderful person to be around. Although I was only able to take a few lessons, I learned more about painting than I did throughout a whole year of my high school art class. I recommend Jenifer to anyone thats looking to expand their knowledge of painting.

Went to the Sunday AM session... wonderful for our 2 year old.
You get a little basket of food to feed a small pen of bunny rabbits! There are also guinea pigs, a chinchilla, horny lizard, birds... Best thing about it was that all the staff members were cheerful and helpful when our kid was a little scared at first. The helpers will take out the animals one by one to have a little visit with your kid.
Theres also a separate room with a little table for snack time, a bunch of animal toys (for sale, but did a fine job distracting our son), and clean bathrooms.
All around a wonderful experience that our kid still talks about

We absolutely love the Art Farm between Mornings at the Zoo feeding bunnies and petting lizards to Farm Foodies creating culinary masterpieces with locally sourced ingredients. We have never had anything less than a terrific time.

We love The Art Farm! Our daughter has the best time at their classes- music, cooking, crafts and an urban animal farm all in one place.

So much fun for the kids!! Came here for a birthday party and it was so well organized, even the adults had fun too. The party started with drawings followed by dancing, singing and bubbles then off to color a soft toy which you get to bring home. It keeps going.. we were then ushered downstairs where there were tonnes of animals you can pet and take pictures with. Definitely worth checking out with the kids.

The Art Farm is amazing! We have them visit our school each year and the students love learning about the animals. Gabby and everyone at The Art Farm have found creative ways to continue connecting the children with animals during distance learning. Would highly recommend The Art Farm!

    Frequently asked questions

For a beginning student, we will start with small warm up assignments to assess their skill, and then talk about goals for the class. I will then create a plan to help my student meet those goals. For more advanced students we will start by looking at past work, talking about their overall goals for growth and progress in their portfolio, and then discuss a plan going forward.

For private lessons at my home, I currently charge $50./hr. For lessons at your home, $100./hr.

I also offer day long workshops on the farm where I live which usually run about $200./day.

I also offer additional free 15 min. check-in meetings via Zoom for every class you take.

After graduate school, I began working with adults at local colleges, and then began teaching teens. I have worked in independent schools for 20 years, and have privately tutored and mentored adults.

All kinds! I have worked with teens and adults who are complete beginners and I have also worked with more experienced artists. I believe that no matter the starting point that every artist can grow their practice.

Consider your goals. Are you looking to learn new skills and create your first drawing or painting? Do you have an existing portfolio, but need to work on making it more cohesive or preparing for an exhibition? Are you a high school student trying to build a portfolio for college or AP? Or maybe you just want to have fun and spend time in nature being creative and experimenting with new materials. Once you know your goals, we can work together to meet them.
