Aggie S. says, "I “knew” how to swim before I hired Lisa, or at least I thought I did. I learnt how to swim as a teen and could swim from one end of the pool to the other, but I had always known that I wasn’t swimming “properly” in the sense that I wasn’t using the proper forms and technique, so I have decided to invest in myself on this lifelong skill this summer. During my search for a swimming coach, I was particularly looking for someone who is experienced in teaching adults, and whose references and resume could show that they are skilled and professional swimmers themselves, and someone who could help me improve my efficiency and performance in water. After I saw Lisa’s profile, her past teaching experience of the Water Safety Instructor course and high school swim team immediately made her stand out from other providers, so I contacted Lisa to arrange for a first lesson and everything from communication to scheduling went very smoothly. After my first 45-minute lesson at my community pool with Lisa, I could immediately tell she is exactly, if not more than what I have been looking for in a swimming coach. During our first lesson, she was able to articulate clearly my “bad” swimming habits and forms, and provided great tips and practice plans on how I could improve. I have had weekly lessons with Lisa for almost a month now and I am really happy with how much I have learnt and progressed so far. The personal attention, patience, great communication and expertise of Lisa has made this a great experience. She also recorded my swim during lessons and we would review them together as part of the lesson, which has been really helpful! I highly recommend Lisa for anyone who is looking for a swim instructor who has years of experience in professional swim coaching, and someone who doesn’t only teach you how to “swim” but how to become a skilled and confident swimmer." 17 years experience as a Marksmanship Trainer, Training Manager, Training Controller, & Training Coordinator; California Dep't. of Justice P.O.S.T. certified Firearms Trainer; FBI Certified Firearms Instructor, Competitive Marksmanship Coach - 7 national championship wins. U.S. Army Distinguished Shooter. That's a quick bullet list of some of my highlights. I have trained over 10,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, & Police. Most U.S. military marksmanship training is extremely poor, the same can be said about law enforcement. Both set a very low goal and achive it. Instead, my goal is to develop outstanding, uncommon, shooting skill

Ara D. says, "Ms Dayal was in the medical outreach as a volunteer masseur, her massage machine made me feel so good, I didn’t expect anything extra, to my surprise, she started to talk to me like a friend, asking me my emotions, at first I felt unsafe to open up myself, but I felt her compassion and I gradually started to unfold my emotions and issues that’s causing my frozen shoulder(learned from her that my emotions caused my tense shoulder), I felt loved and cared about in a deep soul level for the first time ever in my life, all my tears I’ve been holding these years just poured out of me and she hugged me and told me it’s good for me to cry it out loud, to detox. All the new concepts she taught me on that day were eye opening to me cause I used to bury all my emotions, without knowing they should be recognized and released, for me to be healthy and no pain. I told her I felt so relieved after the crying! Thank you angel Dayal, you touched my soul and never will I forget about that day!" Read more

Your CPR and First Aid Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do CPR classes cost?

CPR classes cost $15 to $55 for Basic CPR with AED certification. More advanced courses or those including First Aid training cost more. Basic CPR teaches recognizing and treating first aid, breathing, and heart emergencies in all age groups.

CPR involves chest compressions to maintain blood flow and oxygenation during cardiac arrest, preventing organ damage until the heart restarts. AED training teaches you to use the portable AED devices found in schools, gyms, stores, malls, airports, and offices. These devices use an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm.

Are CPR classes free?

Certain CPR classes are available for free, such as those conducted at community centers, fire departments, or online platforms like the National CPR Foundation. Periodically, the American Red Cross and American Heart Association organize special events offering no-cost CPR training.

How long is a CPR class?

A Basic CPR certification class typically spans 2 to 4 hours. Combined CPR and First Aid training sessions range from 4 to 8 hours. Online CPR courses, excluding skills practice, usually take 4 hours; however, additional in-person skills assessment may be necessary for employment validation.

Where can I take a CPR class?

You have several options for learning CPR. Non-profit organizations like the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association offer CPR classes, both in-person and online. Additionally, many private companies provide online CPR courses.

When using a private company, confirm that they are authorized by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Health Safety Institute (AHSI) for proper certification.

Can you take a CPR class online?

Online CPR classes are available from organizations like the American Red Cross and the National CPR Foundation. These courses provide a convenient and flexible way to gain CPR knowledge, but do not offer hands-on skills sessions.

How long do CPR certifications last?

CPR certifications typically last for 2 years. To stay proficient and ensure you can perform CPR effectively, it's recommended to renew your certification every two years, even if your skills feel sharp.

What questions should I ask a CPR instructor?

Here are some questions you can ask your CPR instructor to get the most out of your training:

  • Can you confirm you're up to date on the latest CPR guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA)?
  • How do you typically structure your CPR classes?
  • What's the usual number of students in each class?
  • Do you have experience teaching CPR in a group setting?
  • Do you provide course materials in addition to hands-on practice?
  • Will we be using manikins with feedback mechanisms to simulate real-life scenarios?
  • When will I receive my CPR certification card? Is it issued on the day of the class or mailed later?

How do I choose a CPR class?

To get the most from your CPR training, follow these suggestions:

  • Choose a class that fits your needs. Whether you need CPR for work, childcare, or personal preparedness, there's a course for you.
  • Hands-on practice with advanced manikins is crucial. Look for classes that provide realistic feedback on your compressions and breaths.
  • Ensure your training covers the latest CPR guidelines for adults, children, and infants.
  • Choose a class that awards a course completion card or digital certificate that meets your workplace requirements.
  • Pick the learning method that works best for you: In-person classes with instructors, online self-paced modules, or a blended approach combining both.
  • Find a course that fits your budget, location, and schedule.

Lisa is an excellent instructor!! She is a kind and understanding person, and has amazing patience! I have wanted to learn how to swim, it's one of the to-do things in my bucket list. I was glad I I chose her. I am able to swim a little now :) I am afraid when I am in the water. She guided and taught me little by little to overcome my fear. I will continue my lessons with Lisa again in summer. I highly recommend her.
