I highly recommend taking a class with Marlin. I recently had the opportunity to take his 10-week Basics in Oil Painting class at the Hermosa Beach Community Center and really loved it. Marlin creates a serene environment for learning the techniques of oil painting and is a kind and patient teacher. Im new to painting, and the whole experience was very mellow - a few hours once a week to chill out, develop my artistic skills and produce a few paintings in the process. Was also a fairly meditative experience and a unique way to decompress on Fridays after a long work week. Looking forward to taking another class this June!

Mr Marlin is a fabulous art teacher!! He has so much art talent, explains what to do in great detail, has a lot of patience and gives personal attention and guidance to every student (from young children to adults at all levels).
Mr Marlin encourages the students to learn new techniques and everyones talents blossom in his classes. There is always great music in the background and he keeps on rotating through the class to ensure that everyone gets the personal attention that they need. From a young age his students learn to mix and create colors, learn about light and dark tones, shadows, sketching , etc.
Mr Marlin is a perfectionist and teaches the students to give their best, while they create their unique masterpieces. At the end of the 10-week art session, there is always an artshow where the students work are displayed and discussed - always something to look forward to!! Artclass is surely one of the high-lights of every week !
