I am teaching cello and string ensembles in Palo Alto about 20 years to private students of all ages. Also I am preparing students for orchestra auditions and for competitions.
I have MFA from Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia and I am a member of Music Teachers Association of CA(MTAC) and American StringTeachers Association(ASTA).
I am in high school and have been Leonid's student for seven years. Leonid has a vast knowledge of cello repertoire, and knows which pieces suit which student. He is also extremely versatile and helped me with music I wanted to learn. Students have an opportunity to play duets with the teacher and in ensembles with other students. It is always pleasant to learn from Leonid; he is kind, focused on the subject at hand, but does not push the student too hard. You can learn at your own pace with him, and without any stress.
My daughter started taking cello lessons at Mr. Leonid’s studio when she was 4 years old. She is now 19, and she continues to study cello with Mr. Leonid. He is an experienced teacher, passionate about his instrument and classical music. He makes his student a partner in exploring the possibilities of the instrument and the repertoire available for it. At the same time, he chooses pieces of music that show best abilities of the student. My daughter also has had an opportunity to play in ensembles with other students of Mr. Leonid’s.
