About
I have a degree in fine art from CSUEB (California State University) in 1996. I have spent 20 years as a graphic designer. I like be art and passing on my passion to other students. I am constantly painting and drawing to express my feelings, experiences and whimsical images. The old masters who sculpted said that they only revealed what was already inside the stone. That's how I feel about the canvas. So lets see what your canvas holds.
My favorite thing is creating a complex background. If you start with a great background and not leave it As the last thing you do your whole image takes on a rich professional look and feel. The next thing I do is see if there are any hints in my background lines, shapes or colors that inspire me to a subject. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I want to get to know my student and what they have done. Bringing in your work is a great way to show me. Anything artistic is helpful even if it is not something you have painted. Then we go from there. I will help you build on what you do know. If you are a beginner that’s ok too. Let’s have fun. Art is supposed to be a process of experimentation with color, life me, shape, placement and ideas. Are you a dreamer? We can use or develop that. Let’s think out of the box. Welcome to my world.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design. My experience is as a Designer for 20 years and as a painter for about the same. I attended CSUEB. I graduated cum laude. I won awards for my graphics work and for a sculpture as well. I sold many paintings.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is based on a tutoring average of $25 per person and $15 for each additional student up to 5. This is a per hour/per person charge. After the first 5 lessons the price goes up to $45 a lesson and $30 for additional students. This includes a 15 minute travel time. And don't forget I have lesson plans too!
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching years ago. I love passing on my expertise to others no matter what age. Its fun to see children or adult stretch who they are to see what else they have. enjoy
