Oboe/Clarinet Lessons
About
Teaching Philosophy:
"Every student has potential. I like to tailor my approach to every students needs and learning style. With patience, resilience, and lots of time in the practice room, anyone can learn to play an instrument."
I enjoy being there when the light bulb goes off for my students! I enjoy watching them achieve new goals! Whether it is in rhythm, theory, or on their instrument.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson will consist of a collaborative effort to find an appropriate starting place for the student. Through discussion and playing we will develop goals and assignments to begin the learning process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a BA in Music with an Oboe concentration from California State University, Sacramento.
I have also been simultaneously performing and playing clarinet since the age of 11.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lesson fees: $30 for 30 min
$45 for 45 min
$60 for 60 min
How did you get started teaching?
My father is a music educator in the public school system in California and was my high school band teacher. I have been around and playing music my entire life.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students can range from school age to adults. It is never too late to start. I have students who are now retired and learning the oboe. They are now performing with friends and in community ensembles.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This last summer in 2021 I held an "Oboe Day" to bring my students together and perform for each other. We followed with a reading session and a chance for them to talk about all things music! I host one every summer.
