About
As a college/university instructor/professor of over 20 years, I am intimately familiar with advanced teaching techniques. I know how to convey complicated subject matter to my students and to keep them engaged. Ultimately, this is the most important point: if the students don't enjoy it and have fun with the subject, they will quickly lose what they have learned.
Seeing my students succeed is my greatest reward. There's nothing better than getting surprised by what they have learned and now understand.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first goal is to establish what the student seeks to learn and for what purpose. This can happen through text exchange (e.g., email, etc.) or in a phone call or teleconference. With the learning objectives defined, I set up a schedule fitting the budget and needs of the client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Professor/Instructor of record for various subjects at domestic and international colleges/universities. Successful photography business since 2014.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My initial assessment of the student's needs is free. If a teaching agreement is reached, my pricing is $39 for a 45-min session.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching was part of my graduate (Ph.D.) education. Later, I became Instructor of Record and Professor.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from all walks of life, young, older, different ethnicities, a colorful array of different nations, both sexes, fresh out of high-school, advanced post-doctoral experts, etc.
In all teaching, determining the student's existing knowledge and using the appropriate starting point is crucial.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have had several students work with me for years, not because they had to, but because they chose to. They have gone on to various successful careers and I couldn't be more proud if they were my own children.
Teaching is a calling and I have been following it for most of my life. Seeing my students succeed (most recently a PhD from UCLA) is the biggest reward I can imagine.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Subject matter expertise is important, but teaching skills may carry even more weight. A Nobel laureate is a genius, but if s/he cannot convey the subject in an easy-to-understand fashion, find a different teacher. Find someone who enjoys teaching. Find someone you're comfortable with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What exactly is it that you want to accomplish with the learned material? Do not think "grades" or "resume" here...
