I have always been the one with a camera in my hand. Growing up in the '70s and '80s, I usually had a 110 film camera with me. Once I took my first photography class in 7th grade, where we had to process and develop our own film and prints, I was hooked. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2001 and I have been honing my craft ever since. I love to teach others about the craft and look forward to connecting with students so that I can pass my love for this wonderful hobby.
I LOVE taking pictures. I happen to think black and white photographs reach a depth that color never quite replicates, but I still like to load my medium format camera with color film and shoot away every now and then. In either case, the act of taking pictures brings a measure of comfort to my soul that nothing else seems to be able to do. I have a tendency to get anxious from time to time and going out and shooting seems to clear those thoughts and feelings away.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk about their experience with photography so that I can understand where they are in their photographic journey. I also want to find out what kind of pictures they enjoy. Then I can tailor the lesson plan based on their experience level and particular interests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've had a camera with me since I was a young man but I finally got serious in 1999. I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2001.

I charge $60 per hour, which is how long each lesson lasts
