How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in evenings while I had a really stressful day job as a way to relax and have fun. I teach because I AM a teacher at heart. Teaching is all I want to do and I wish I could make it my life but we live in a world that doesn't pay teachers enough to support a wife and 4 kids =( So the day jobs continue...
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 13-70
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Volunteering to teach photography for the Girl Scouts was a blast!
Traveling to Maui to shoot for a bikini company; my wife was hired as one of the models!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Just because someone is a good photographer DOES NOT mean they can teach. I have to interview about 50 photographers to find just one Photographer who can actualy teach and explain what they are doing. I am a teacher who happens to be a photographer not a photographer who is trying to teach.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Call before buying equipment!! I don't sell gear and have no sponsorships there is a lot of shadey sales going on out there in photo world.
