I teach a variety of styles including classical, jazz, blues, rock, bossa nova, and flamenco guitar. I can teach beginners, intermediate players, or advanced professional guitarists.
I teach multi-string instruments and play a 9 string Guitar myself. I also teach bass and ukulele.
I teach reading skills, tab, chords and scales, and modes for great rock or jazz solos.

Brad has helped me with chords that I never thought I could play. This has helped me as soon I will be able to start to play more advanced tunes. He has encouraged me to keep going and has gone out of his way to transpose material when we were not in session. He really cares!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first determine what the student wants to learn. Often, we start with learning reading skills and we use the Mel Bay instruction books. If a student wants to learn great Rock solos or to play jazz then I teach what the student wants to learn or how they want to improve their skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken coursework in Music Theory and studied Guitar and music since I was 16.

I usually charge $35 per 1/2 hour
How did you get started teaching?
I found I really enjoyed teaching Guitar when I was 16. Later in life I worked at Monterey Music Store teaching for 12 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all ages from young children to older people. Often I have worked with beginners or intermediate students. Sometimes I work with very advanced students to hone skills.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We got to hear the Gypsy Kings play at the State Theatre in Monterey.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find some experienced, patient, that has you best interests at heart.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Determine how and what you want to learn on the guitar. Do you want to learn to read notes, tabs, or chords?
