About

I am a former professional athlete turned coach/trainer. While in college I played at a divison II level my whole career (SFSU and HPU) and began coaching at the beinnging of my sophomore season and have coached since. As a child I didn't have the resources that individuals have now so my training style focuses on the small nuances and details of body placement (how to distribute body weight/movement with the ball), footwork and change of pace. Understanding how and when to use those movements in game situations is crucial. The basic fundamentals of any movement helps build a players foundation as they advance in their skills. I stand out by breaking down a players individual weaknesses so they can problem solve on their own. The game of basketball exposes grit, how hard someone will work, and throughs adveristy every step of the way. So when a player has a strong foundation of the fundamentals the following 3 keys I focus on will help a players game feel like very natural and fluid.

When I was a sophomore in college I began working for a well known basketball camp program that changed childrens lives. Not only did we teach them about basketball, we instilled an environment that brought children back for seasons, and years on. I have worked with all age groups ranging from 6 years of age all the way up to some in college and in that time acquired my USA coaching ceritifcation. What I love most is building a family type of environment with my clients and parents. Its all about building someone up to empower their journey as a basketball player. My overall goal is to enfluence them to be better people and prepare players for the adversity on and off the court. When you make an impact on a child/persons life that means way more to me than a child having bad sportsmanship or too much pride because they believe their success on the court means they're better than everyone.

Sam really helped out my younger sister with developing her ball handling and overall explosion. I was hesitant to seek out a trainer because they can be a bit pricey but Sam is worth every penny. I have recommended her to a few of my sisters teammates as well and i always hear good things.

Frequently asked questions

My process for working with a new client is to put them through a basic work out that assesses their fundamentals, footwork and shooting. Once I've evaluated their skills I tailor our following work outs to drills that will enhance their weaknesses.

I have been a basketball player since the 4th grade and I have acquired a ton of information taught to me in order to make it to a professional level. I've been mentored by a few well known NBA skills trainers as well as assist my alma mater at the college level.

I have a standard price and packaged pricing for a number of sessions.  If rates are to high I am open to reasonably negotiating the price range.

I started coaching/training as a sophomore in college with the children ranging from 6years of age to 14 years of age and found a huge passion for giving back and making an impact.

I've worked with beginners all the way up to college level of skill.

When looking for a teacher/trainer see if they're transparent in their purpose to enhance your specific weaknesses. Some teacher/trainers focus on different categories of the game, while thats okay, be comfortable with asking to work on whatever you would also like to work on. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as possible. The more you learn about the game the better.

Can I dribble with both hands? Do I tend to double dribble or travel under pressure?

Can I finish a lay up with both hands? Do I know the proper footwork to finish a lay up?

How well do I shoot the ball? Can I make my shot consistantly?

Do I feel completely comfortable with both of my pivot feet? Do I understand how to rip through out of a pivot or jab without traveling?
