The pressure of being a student these days is immense. Online classes just don't cut it. As a student myself, I understand the need for a classroom environment that just isn't there. I want to help lessen the load of taking online classes and be that extra boost of confidence needed to succeed.
I am currently enrolled in San Diego State University in the aerospace engineering program. I am in my third year and have taken and excelled in all of my math and physics classes. During my college career, I have worked as a tutor at Mesa community college for both the college itself and the veteran's program. I have three years of tutoring under my belt and enjoyed every minute of it.
Tutoring is something that I personally enjoy. Do not be discouraged if something seems hard. I believe that the road to understanding can be traveled by anyone. Sometimes, all we need is a little help in finding our path. I want to be that help.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I generally talk with my students to understand exactly what they are looking for. The first step in learning is Identifying the problem and sometimes that can be the hardest step.
I then ask my students to identify their resources in which we use to find answers. For the purpose of the tutor is not to teach or to find answers. It's to help the student to become self-sufficient so they can improve themselves.
We then tackle the problems together looking over the resources given to us. I try to make the student find the answer for themselves and just nudge in the right direction. I believe the feeling of self-realization and understanding is very difficult to duplicate and can be quite an addictive quality.
Lastly, I ask the student to go over what they learned and teach me what they know. This helps reinforce the topic and will help cement it into memory. Teaching others things you have learned is the best way to reach a higher level of understanding about the topic.
