I have more than 50 years of experience as a painter and 44 years of teaching Painting and Drawing students,of all levels from Freshman to Graduate students ,at a the University of Kansas. I also have a strong background in Art history.

I achieved the rank of Full Professor before the age of 40 and that is a strong testament to the strength and quality of my teaching expertise. I will post a review from my most recent student soon.

I hold a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and an M.A.from the University of New Mexico.

I have exhibited my work throughout the U.S. as well as in 6 countries internationally and therefore have considerable insight as to what it means to be a professional artist.

I am not entering into this endeavor as a business but as a way to help a few people who have a serious interest in making art. I offer my services without charge for at least 2 classes. I would prefer you spend the money on materials. After that, we can determine a fare fee.

I will only take on the maximum of 3 students to start with and I would prefer to work with them as a group if that can be arranged as my studio will probably has only enough space to accomodate that many comfortably.

THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE will largely be determined by the student's needs and desires as I want to address your individual requirements. Much of this will decided by your level of experience, talent, technical ability,age and personal predilection. There will be instruction in materials and techniques and much discussion of artists and their approach as well art and design concepts in historical context. Of course, there will frequent critiques of your artwork which should give understanding of its strengths and weakness. Most importantly,lots of suggestions will be made as to how to improve your pictures aand realize your potential.

I have always enjoyed teaching people who have sincere and profound interest in making art. There is much pleasure and great satisfaction in,sharing knowledge buit over a lifetime introducing people to the beauty, fun and satisfaction of an artistic pursuit and creative enterprise.

As a painter I have most enjoyed the complete freedom to develop my own means of creative expression that I believe is unique and strong. I love the challenge of trying to achieve something of excellence fhat might be benefit to my fellow man.
