I am a photography instructor and author of Digital SLR Photography for Dummies eLearning Kit. I have taught hundreds of photographers in San Diego for 12 years, both individuals and companies. I have over 60 five-star reviews on Yelp.

Although some people might think teaching photography is repetitive, it is far from it. I enjoy meeting new people. I love keeping up-to-date with cameras and techniques. Mostly, I really enjoy sharing in the joy when people start to understand light, composition, and technique to create great pictures.

What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with young adults, retired people, couples, and businesses. I have run workshops for the Marine Corps MCCS, charities, scientific companies, a wholesale florist, and many individual professional photographers. People from outside the USA regularly contact me and book lessons that they fly in for. I structure lessons according to the needs of the individual. I only teach adults and have no classes available for children.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There is no barrier to entry to becoming a photography teacher. Anyone with a camera can call themselves a photography instructor. Also, just because someone is a good photographer does not make them a good teacher. Check out reviews on Yelp or Google, which are most likely to be genuine, before engaging an instructor.
