I offer lessons in-studio and through Skype based on your distance and what is easiest for you. Lessons are tailored to your interests and needs. I have a high success rate with students who become professional musicians later in life, or those who are just looking to learn the instruement as quick as possible so they can play fun music!
I have been teaching for over 25 years and it makes me happy to see my students make music careers for themselves or to accomplish their individual goals of playing music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe strongly in developing the basics and foundation before embarking on challenging musical projects. The first lesson is usually assessing the skill level of the player and we will work together on strengthening weaknesses. Based on the student’s musical goals, we will move to pieces that challenge but also compliment the player’s current level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied music education and performance for over 25 years and have been working with many individuals, trumpet sections and ensembles throughout the Bay Area and Hawaii. I’ve performed with the Honolulu Symphony, SF Opera and Ballet, Regional orchestras, chamber ensembles, musical theater companies and numerous other organizations.

How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching since 1993 and have worked with hundreds of students since then. I specialize in beginners and those going through embouchure changes, but am well versed to work with highly advanced students as well.
