About
I focus on evaluating how students learn and go with their educational strengths. I resource many online and textbook sources to keep my lessons fun and interesting. I specialize in helping kids who are struggling feel empowered about math.. especially kids in grades 5 - 9.
I enjoy seeing my students evolve from overwhelmed to empowered with math. I teach study skills that transform kids into organized and strategic mathematical thinkers, and I love seeing how their sense of personal mastery shifts in a positive direction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with an assessment.. giving a casual "test" so that I can see a students strengths and weaknesses. Then we talk about their goals and challenges in school so that I can get a sense of how their school is or is not supporting their needs. Finally we come up with a strategy to fill in holes in the students understanding and restore confidence with their homework.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree from Columbia University where I took several advanced calculus courses and graduated with a degree in English and Pre-med. I tutored for Inspirica in New York City where I helped kids prepare for standardized and AP tests in high school. I have been tutoring on and off as a supplementary career to my Physical Therapy business since 1997.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
