Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work with students beginning with where they are and then we move forward from there. I can quickly assess any gaps in their learning and so we focus on reviewing necessary former material in addition to the current work. I like to focus on the current work first so that the student has the opportunity to receive positive feedback right away, in the form of improved grades on homework, quizzes, and tests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The pricing structure is $95/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved math and when I realized how many students struggle with this, as well as organizing and structuring their time, I was drawn to help them. It gives me tremendous satisfaction knowing that I make students lives less stressful and even fun; yes, even math can be fun.
What types of students have you worked with?
Just about all students including children as young as pre-first grade and I had the immense pleasure of helping them learn to read. And then on up through the grades of middle school, high school, and college as well as older adults returning to school. Some of the students have accommondations (perhaps more time on tests) and others don't.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love learning and I am always seeking out ways to do this. Most recently I spent a month attending a Spanish language school, continuing to develop my speaking skills while living with a local family in a small town in Mexico. What a fantastic way to be immersed in another culture. I just loved it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing is to find someone whom you enjoy working with. A good fit is the most important thing. With a great fit, anything is possible; the sky is the limit. Tutors vary a great deal and you will be surprised how much material you can cover with a great tutor and how much easier your work will be. I'd highly recommend speaking with at least 3 tutors before you make a decision and it's also an excellent idea to meet with 2 or 3 and see who you feel most comfortable with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should know what their goals are and what they want to achieve. Students are all different and they have different goals. If they don't know their goals, perhaps they can explore this with their teacher or someone else.
