About

I teach both traditional and digital art. I have a BFA in painting and photography as well as a long career working as 2D/3D digital artist/animator in games and automotive. I taught for 4 years at the Art Institute of San Francisco and Expression College for Digital Media. I've also done private tutoring for student's specific needs. I use a combination of lecture and lab ( talking about it, then doing it) I encourage students to ask lot's of questions and I try to tailor classes for the students needs.

Take a look at my LinkedIn profile to get a better idea of the breadth of my experience and skills. Please read my recommendations to get a better idea of how I am to work with. https://www.linkedin.com/profinder/pro/arthurkoch

When I'm painting murals and landscapes I'm usually outdoors which I enjoy after many years being stuck inside working on a computer. I enjoy working with people, talking to the passers by, and the support of the community. I enjoy photography as way to show my appreciation of the world, events, to bring out the best in people with portrait sessions. I enjoy the research that goes into every mural and illustration allowing me to learn something about everything. I love that I have several forms of self expression and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

Arthur was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was also very patient. I highly recommend him. What is most important is that he was very honest and fair. He was very good at explaining how things work and fit together.

Arthur did a fantastic job in improving my fine art skills in a very short time. He exposed and reintroduced me to a variety of mediums and fostered not only my abilities, but those of everyone in my class. His tutelage gave me a strong foundation for the next classes in my series and prepared me to see the world from different artistic perspectives. He was a great instructor who is both personable and helped create a relaxing atmosphere. He obviously loves his work with art, creative industries and his work with young people. His experiences in the creative/entertainment/ gaming industries were enlightening and helped me to focus my direction while I was attending school and are currently help me refine my talents to finding a job in the industry. Overall, he is a great inspiration to those who are ready to learn, listen, and try different techniques. His critique is honest, direct, and helpful and the work of his that I he shared with my class was on the cutting edge for its time.
