About
I teach both traditional and digital art. I have a BFA in painting and photography as well as a long career working as 2D/3D digital artist/animator in games and automotive. I taught for 4 years at the Art Institute of San Francisco and Expression College for Digital Media. I've also done private tutoring for student's specific needs. I use a combination of lecture and lab ( talking about it, then doing it) I encourage students to ask lot's of questions and I try to tailor classes for the students needs.

When I'm painting murals and landscapes I'm usually outdoors which I enjoy after many years being stuck inside working on a computer. I enjoy working with people, talking to the passers by, and the support of the community. I enjoy photography as way to show my appreciation of the world, events, to bring out the best in people with portrait sessions. I enjoy the research that goes into every mural and illustration allowing me to learn something about everything. I love that I have several forms of self expression and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask them questions about what they want to learn. Look at past work and evaluate their skill level. Tailor the class to their needs and aspirations. Try to maintan a balance between critiques and compliments. I ususally give a demonstartion but try to refrain from doing it for them.
