About

In my 8 years as a teacher, I've learned that along with their piano technique, people are eager to develop a deeper relationship with music through ear training, singing, songwriting, and composing. My course will enable you to not just to bring what's written on the page to life, but to learn music of all styles by listening, to engage with in from different angles, and to bring your own musical ideas into the world.

words cant really express how much I enjoy working with Kieran.
After the first lesson with him the number of things I know about music multiplied so much, and what hes taught me I use ALL the time in my songwriting and producing. The entire way I approach music has shifted because of what he taught me, from the technicalities of melodies, chord progressions, and technique, all the way to the spiritual/emotional side of music: what makes a song beautiful... how to make a song sound nostalgic, what drives dissonance and relief, etc... Before working with Kieran, I felt stuck in my compositions. Now I have a whole toolkit at my disposal. Dont you want that too?!
Plus, lessons with him feel comfortable and safe — all too often, music teachers can be stuffy or condescending. Thats not at all the case with Kieran.
I feel super SUPER lucky I found such a knowledgeable, patient, and wise teacher. Highly recommend!!!!

Kieran was a really creative and flexible teacher, because he always was able to come up with a unique solution to whatever problems I was having on the spot. He really transmitted his enthusiasm for music very well. Im really happy I found such a passionate person to learn from!

Frequently asked questions

In the first lesson, I want to establish what your musical life has been so far and where you want to take it. By the end of our first meeting, we'll cover the three basic elements of music, the fundamentals of reading notes, introduce ear training, and you'll leave knowing a new song.

I got my degree in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I also studied Piano, Organ, Harpsichord, Conducting, Harmony, Solfege, and Dictation. I've been teaching since high school, and have guided students in a vareity of styles.
