Dean Mayo Photography Workshops
About
I started helping people learn in 1992 as a PGA Golf instructor where I taught literally thousands of people. I switched gears as a professional photographer in 2001 when the golf compnay i worked fro went out of business. As a professional photographer I started specializing in golf course photography where I had an eye for bringing out the special aspects of the courses. In 2005 i started showing my work at fine art shows in Southern California. As my experience grew so did my subject matter to where in now includes landscapes of some of the most beautiful areas in the Southwest.
My philosophy as a coach is to help people learn at their own pace. What I found most effective in any aspect of coaching is to help people learn my observing and asking my student questions to help them realize cause and affect. I believe it is through this process that effective learning takes place.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process for working with a new student is to first find out what their goals are and then find out about their experience and develop a plan to help them accomplish their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I consider my self a self taught photographer who has learned through trial and error as well as participating in many workshops and classes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
No, once we have discussed the goals of the student I will put a package together based on goals.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching and coaching at an early age and have extensive experience on how people learn.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The best way to learn is by trial and error and by having a coach that knows how to observe and asks the right questions so the learning will be specific for each and every student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students must have an open mind and a willingness to make mistakes to learn.
