Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First off, I'll ask you about your goals and what you want to work on and we can go from there. I can do a more structured lesson with handouts and homework or we can just play our lessons by ear.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I train at Interlochen Arts Academy for Singing and Songwriting. I've been playing guitar for 6 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually I'd say 15$ for a half hour, but I'm flexible. I can do longer lessons and I'm willing to negotiate on price.
How did you get started teaching?
Well usually I play gigs but quarantine is making that difficult so I thought it would be fun to teach some lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly beginners. I'm not a teacher for already advanced players but I can help beginners on technique, theory, and songwriting if they want to do that.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I did a recital with my friend recently that was pretty fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have an idea of what you want to learn. I'm not really the person to teach you heavy metal shredding but if you're looking to play some campfire songs, I'm your gal:)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you want to get out of your lessons.
