Frank Martinez Guitar Studies
About
Hello all, my name is Frank Martinez. I'm currently finishing up my Bachelors of Arts in Music at San Jose State University. This summer I'm trying to gain some experience teaching before I complete my last semster and enter the real world. Music has been my passion ever since I was 14 years old and now I want to spread the joy it brings. I've been learning to play guitar indvidually since then and when I entered the university I studied under classical guitarist Steve Lin. Feel free to email me any questions at [email protected]
For now, I'm looking to teach at the beginning level. This is where most of my teaching experience comes from. I've been teaching a brother and sister for the past two years. In the course of my teachings I will teach you the very basics of music, from note reading and rhythms to scales and chords. Although I am classically trained, I'm open to teaching with a pick.
I enjoy watching people discover how powerful, fun and challenging music actually is.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
They typical process I use when working with a student is learning how much music experience they have. If they have a little experience then I will find out what they know and go from there. If they have none, then we will start at the bottom of the ladder with first getting familar with the instrument and learning to sit with the instrument.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying music since the beginning of my college career. I did my underdivsion classes at De Anza College where I studied music theory. I transerferred to San Jose State University where I took private classical guitar lessons, and worked on upper division music classes.

How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching as a recomendation from my guitar teacher. Some parents were looking for a guitar instructor and originally intended to hire my guitar teacher, Steve Lin. He was alittle too pricey for their interests so he recommended me as an option.
