My name is Matthew Hoffman and I'm a senior at Santa Clara University. I'm majoring in Economics with a minor in Math. My goal is to help students understand concepts in an accessible and relaxed learning environment. Math and science should not be stressful! I believe in meeting students at their level and working from there. I provide online tutoring assistance with homework, test prep, and skill development.
It's rewarding to be able to help students see real progress being made and watching them become confident in their abilities.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I like spend the first session meeting with a new student and their grownups so we can get to know each other. I will assess their strengths and what they need to work on, as well as which learning style best suits them. From there, we will develop a tutoring plan to help them achieve their goals.
How did you get started teaching?
I have very strong skills in math and science, and I've spent years tutoring my little sister from elementary through middle school. She says that I'm very patient, and I'm good at breaking down complicated ideas and making them understandable.
